Frequently Asked Questions

1.          How do I place an order?

To place an order by phone, please call (949) 215-3647 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm pacific standard time.  To place an order, by e-mail, write to orders@fauxpawfurs.com.  In your e-mail, include your name, address and phone number along with the item/s that you are ordering.  I also need to know what method of payment you will be using.  Please reference the Ordering Info page for complete ordering instructions including how to calculate your shipping charges.

2.           What methods of payment do you accept?

Faux Paw Furs accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, PayPal, money orders, cashier's checks, personal checks and US cash.

3.            How do you ship?

All items shipped within the continental United States are sent FedEx ground unless otherwise requested.  Rates for faster shipping will be quoted upon request.  Residents of Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, as well as international customers, will have shipping rates quoted to them separately from the USPS postal service.

4.            Do you provide insurance?

FedEx automatically insures every package for $100.  Each additional $100 worth of insurance costs .50.  For example, if you wanted to insure your package for a total of $300, you would need to include $1 for the extra $200 worth of insurance.  Packages are only insured upon request.  The US Post Office is no longer insuring international packages.  They have no control over the shipment after it leaves the US, so they changed their insurance policy.  Please see the Ordering Information page for USPS insurance rates which would apply to shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and US military mailing addresses.

5.            Does Faux Paw Furs offer any other items?

We currently make the following items from our furs: lap throws, throws, blankets, extra long blankets, comforters, bedspreads, shams, pillows, stoles, teddy bears, leg warmers and aisle runners.  If you are an artist, designer, manufacturer, or seamstress and would like to discuss a partnership with us, please drop an e-mail to alison@fauxpawfurs.com.    If you'd like to have something made out of faux fur that you don't see on this website, send an e-mail to info@fauxpawfurs.com or call (949) 215-3647 between 9:00am and 6:00pm pacific time, and we'll see what we can do.

6.            What's the best way to care for fake fur?

All fur fabrics sold on this website excluding the Tissavel furs are cold water machine washable/air dry only.  They are "knit" faux furs and knit faux furs are cold water machine washable.  Do not dry clean a knit faux fur.  Dry cleaning will not affect the look of the fabrics, but it will reduce softness.  The Tissavel furs are "woven" faux furs, and woven furs are DRY CLEAN ONLY.

7.            Why are some faux fur throws and fabrics less/more expensive on other websites?

There are a wide variety of fake furs out there, and they range in quality from excellent to poor.  The best fake furs in the world can cost $150 per yard.  The poorest quality fakes can be as little as $5 per yard.   Faux Paw Furs offers good quality fake furs that are dense and thick with a high fiber count per square inch.  Fabric sold on this website also range in weight from 1.25 to 2.50 pounds per yard.  Another factor affecting price is where an item is made.  Most fake furs are manufactured  in Asia.   If your throw is also made in Asia and imported into the US as a sewn item, you will pay less.  If you buy a throw made here in the States, you will pay more.  You do get what you pay for, so if the price seems too good to be true, it probably is.

8.            Does fake fur shed?

Yes.  Fake fur does shed, especially in the beginning.  Once all of the loose fibers are discarded, the fur shouldn't shed anymore.  To encourage shedding, wash the fur.  For full washing instructions, click here.  If shedding persists, brush the fur like you would brush a cat.  A final suggestion would be to use a masking tape lint roller rolled against the grain of the fur.   Each of these methods will shed loose fibers.

9.            I have a retail store, and I'd like to sell your blankets in that store.  Do you drop ship?

You betcha!  If you would like to sell any of our items in your retail or virtual store, please contact us.  We are happy to give you discounted pricing and drop ship for you.
